The Same Old Sturgis...Not!

The Same Old Sturgis...Not!

The Sturgis Black Hills Rally may be 77 years old, but I prefer to think of it as 76 years young, and young at heart as well. When asked if they would go this year, many bikers told me, “I’ve been there twice and seen it all” or “It's the same old thing,” but I promise it’s not. You see, this was my 37th year photographing the rally and every year I see new things, ride different roads and experience the rally from a different perspective, all the time saying, “WOW!”

Some also wondered about this 77th annual rally in 2017 it being an “off-year” since it didn’t end in a “Zero” or “5” when the rally typically sees an uptick in numbers, nor was it an anniversary year like the 75th in 2015 when the numbers truly get explosive.
