Following Mark from NCC Surrey’s Bandit Twelve from our meeting place at Battersea Park round to where these pics were done, I was taken back to the days when I used to ride a GPZ900 hardtail into The Smoke (or That London as it’s also known). ’Course, mine was an old-school streetfighter with clip-ons and rearsets, while his is, if you like, a proper chopper with apes and a sissy-bar, so the feeling’s not exactly the same, but it’s pretty damn close, y’know.
He got his about eight years ago – it’d been built originally ex-NCC member, Paul from Essex, using one of Suzuki’s tous1157ccBanditmotors, and a lower-than-a-grass snake’s s HUC Wormburner frame. It was plain orange with rd controls, and straight through ’pipes that were, cording to Mark, literally two centimetres off the deck and, he soon found, would never run over 60mphbecause the carb jetting was, he says, “in such a f**k-awful state”. He could see the potential in it though, and swapped it for his Taylormade Wheels big-wheel V-Max.
