Giorgio Palermo, founder of Dubai design consultancy NIU Studio, is the creative talent behind the winner of the Editor’s Choice Award at the recent identity Design Awards. His international experience and expertise – particularly in industrial and lighting design – and his Italian eye for craftsmanship and quality is evident throughout the 1500-square meter Stone House.
The client requested a design that fused architectural minimalism with contemporary luxury, to evoke a timeless warmth and elegance throughout a traditional home that provides both formal, public spaces and separate, private areas for the family. A study in contrasts, the modernity of the architectural structure, angular linearity and the minimalism of massive monolithic forms contrast and blend with the contemporary design of the rooms and the furnishings, while simultaneously providing natural light that creates an ever-changing dance of light and shadows throughout the day.
