"Never forget you are enough!"
Woman's World
|June 03, 2024
The bestselling, most-awarded female gospel artist of all time, CeCe Winans, 59, shines bright, not just on stage, but in her community as a beacon of kindness, faith and generosity. But she's had times of darkness, like after losing her brother Ronald and later, her dear friend Whitney Houston. Here, how prayer and gratitude brought her through the storm-and back into the light!
When you hear CeCe Winans sing, or if you've heard her infectious laugh, you know the 15-time Grammy Award winner naturally exudes joy. "I'm a happy, happy person!" she shares with Woman's World. "I love the church. I love fellowshipping with other people."
Growing up one of 10 children in a musically gifted family, CeCe saw her older brothers blaze a trail in both gospel and R&B music as The Winans, and followed them into the spotlight, performing as a duo with her older brother, BeBe, before establishing her solo career.
Today, the Detroit-born singer and songwriter is one of the most successful artists in gospel music, currently on tour and watching her new album, More Than This, soar through the charts. She and her husband, Alvin Love II, also founded a Nashville church 12 years ago, and it is now pastored by their son, Alvin Love III.
But despite all her success, CeCe is no stranger to life's challenges, including the loss of her best friend, Whitney Houston, and her brother, Ronald, to heart disease at just 48 years old. But CeCe's faith brought her through her heartache and pain, and it continues to help her cherish each moment and look forward to what's next.
