Hidden health plan perks that SAVE YOU MONEY

Nab freebies and bonuses

Chances are, your plan includes services that help you stay in tiptop shape and trim costs. You can usually find them by logging into your online account, but perks may also be in a separate wellness app, says Louise Norris, a health policy analyst for HealthInsurance.org. Here are a few of the most common:

Cash rewards

You could earn money or gift card credits for many healthy habits, like getting your annual physical or walking more. The tricky part is that you may need to activate an app to track and claim your earned points, says Norris.

Exercise discounts

Some insurers partner with gyms to give lower rates, says Norris. For example, numerous Blue Cross Blue Shield plans provide access to thousands of gyms and video instruction through memberships starting at just $19 a month.
