When Mr D was a young romantic

Passions of MY PAST

You might remember that my little sister Deb used to live in a rather swanky house in the countryside, which is what you get for divorcing an high-flying accountant.

She has since moved to a more modest flat in our little town, which means I can see her much more regularly. And without fear of disappearing into the deep-pile carpet.

This is a good thing, but would be much better if she didn’t spend so much time grumbling about her love life. Meeting Deb is sometimes like stepping into an episode of Friends - The One in Which She Moans for about an Hour and a Half about Being Single.

There is no obvious reason why Deb should be single. As I might have mentioned before, she has a mischievous glint in her eye and is very good company.

And if anybody has grounds for a good moan, it is me. When looks were divvied out in our family, I'm the one who had to settle for looking like the cook in an Edwardian country-house drama.

And she’s the one who'd be playing the countess, who is also having an affair with a dashing cabinet minister.
