Among these, iron and vitamin B12 play especially critical roles, yet their significance in cardiovascular health often remains underemphasized. Iron is a key component of hemoglobin, the protein in red blood cells that transports oxygen from the lungs to all body tissues, including the heart.
National Institute of Nutrition (ICMR-NIN), Hyderabad reviewed how B12, iron, and folate deficiencies impair cardiac muscle performance, especially among vegetarian or anemic Indian women, suggesting routine micronutrient monitoring.
