In the coming months Lucy Barnard has a lot to worry about - mountain lions, grizzlies and wolves, not to mention the odd polar bear, Arctic weather conditions and a danger of food poisoning and foot rot. But the 42-year old from Brisbane knows it's all part of the adventure and the incredible end goal of being the first woman to walk the 30,000km length of the earth, from the southernmost tip of South America to the top of North America.
"It bugged me that in the 35 years since it was first completed, no women had achieved the same feat, so I began planning," Lucy tells Woman's Day.
And that planning is exhaustive.
