She was missing for over 500 days
When Valerie the dachshund went missing while on a camping trip to Kangaroo Island in November 2023, her mum Georgia Gardner was scared she'd never see her fur baby again.
The little black and brown dog broke out of her pen while Georgia and her partner Josh were fishing just metres away and ran into nearby bushland, sparking a 529-day search for her, with help from Kangala Wildlife Rescue.
“We searched every single day from sunrise to sunset, hiking through hills, and in pouring rain doing everything we could to find her,” Georgia, 24, tells Woman's Day.
