JOHN PAUL YOUNG 'LOVE IS STILL IN THE AIR'

As he rings in his 75th birthday, the singer reflects on love, his marriage and passing the baton to his grandson

Celebrating his 75th birthday, music legend John Paul Young is anything but Yesterday's Hero. Today the former King of Pop is a member of the Order of Australia, actor, podcaster, charity worker, mental health advocate and champion of the men's shed movement.

His greatest hit - Love Is In the Air - not only made him a global star but has now become one of the world's most popular wedding songs from Sydney to San Francisco, Berlin to Bangkok.

Pretty funny, since the man best known to fans simply as JPY reckons he's not at all romantic, although he's been with wife Lynette for 53 years.

“You can't get too mushy with her, because she has a pretty wicked sense of humour,” he grins. “But we've managed to stay together all this time and it's fantastic. I can't imagine life without her.”
