With 20 years of parenthood under her belt, Amanda Keller, 62, knows a thing or two about raising kids – so she’s the perfect fit to host the ABC’s new five-part factual doco series about parenting.

Were you intrigued by the concept – part doco/ part sitcom? Do you think it works well?

It’s the same team that were behind Old People’s Home For 4 Year Olds/Teenagers, which were so great, so I jumped at the opportunity. I was intrigued how you could make another show about parenting interesting, but I think the team have absolutely nailed it.

Do you think it’s harder being a parent now?

I think it is harder now, because you have to keep your kids safe in two worlds – the real world and the online world. Our parents never had to deal with the scary nature of social media and all that has brought into our kids’ lives.

What’s the biggest challenge you face as a parent now that your kids are older?
