Martin and Shirlie Kemp talk us through Christmas disasters and stocking fillers

'WE THREW THE SPROUTS INTO THE GARDEN!'

Perhaps it's no surprise that outgoing, former pop-star couple Martin and Shirlie Kemp have a full-on Christmas. Starting at the end of November, Martin, 64, and Shirlie, 63 - who have grownup children Roman and Harley and have been married since 1988 - have put up the decorations and the partying has begun. And when the day itself comes, the couple don't shy away from singing their own songs from the 80s on their karaoke machine. However, this year, Shirlie will be doing some of the partying alone, while Martin is in the Australian jungle for I'm A Celebrity. We caught up with the pair - who are working on a new campaign with Bupa - to find out more...

Tell us about a Kemp family Christmas - what's it like?

Shirlie: Christmas starts earlier these days - when I was a little girl it was really just Christmas Eve. Now it's parties and gatherings all through December, so I like to have the house ready. It's fashionable to have more than one Christmas tree now - I'll put one in the dining room, that sort of thing.

Martin: Every year Shirlie says, 'Next year we'll have a quiet one,' and by November she's back at it again!
