Is it OK to cancel plans for no good reason?

YES

‘Nobody should feel guilty’

Danielle Knights, 34, a music agent, lives in Reading.

If I'm honest, I cancel social plans quite a lot. Sometimes, if I've agreed to go to a gig or out with a friend, I find myself zapped of energy and the thought of a late night is just too much. If I go, I know I'll regret it the next day when it impacts my work schedule.

Recently, a friend and I had planned to go to a concert together but on the day, I didn't fancy it and just felt I'd rather spend the evening at home. We talked it through and although she was a bit annoyed, she did understand my point of view. She's previously cancelled on me too and it didn't bother me, and I think it's important to be understanding of each other's needs.
