And with the gorgeous Mendip Hills, awash with dramatic gorges and ancient woodland, a short drive away, this corner of Somerset is well worth a visit.

Head for the beach

Locate the Grand Pier on the horizon and you'll discover Weston-super-Mare's famous beach - a long, sandy stretch with the second-highest tidal range in the world. Find loveable donkeys strolling up and down the front for much of the year, a wide promenade to savour the scene without sandy toes, seafront cafes and restaurants, and the much-loved pier.
