With winter well and truly here, coaxing yourself out of bed in the morning can feel like a daunting task. When it’s dark, gloomy and raining outside, it certainly seems that crisp mornings are designed to keep us snuggled up under the covers. But what if you could shift your perspective and relish the slow beauty of winter mornings?
Here are five simple and achievable tips to inspire a gentler wake-up routine – the kind you'll actually look forward to getting up for.
1. Start with a moment of quiet
Before diving head-first into the hustle and bustle of the day, gift yourself five minutes of gentle solitude.
Envelop yourself in a soft blanket, cuddle a hot-water bottle and light a candle or switch on a diffuser. When it comes to scent, studies show citrus aromas can be particularly powerful when it comes to feeling energised, awakened and optimistic.
Allow the beautiful aroma to fill the air, while taking a moment to breathe deeply and set your intentions for the day. During this time, you might like to read some lines of an inspiring book, journal or simply bask in the quiet.
