LUCID DELIVERIES RISE BUT MISS TARGETS AS EV MARKET COOLS

LUCID DELIVERIES RISE BUT MISS TARGETS AS EV MARKET COOLS

Lucid Motors reported a modest rise in vehicle deliveries for the third quarter of 2025, but the numbers came in below analyst expectations, signaling that the electric vehicle startup continues to struggle with scaling production and converting interest into actual sales. The results underscore the widening gap between premium EV challengers and market leader Tesla as consumer demand moderates across the sector.

imageDELIVERY FIGURES AND MARKET REACTION

According to data released this week, Lucid delivered 2,374 vehicles during the quarter ending in September, a 6% increase from the previous quarter. However, Wall Street analysts surveyed by Reuters had expected closer to 2,700 units. Shares of Lucid fell more than 4% in premarket trading following the announcement, as investors interpreted the results as another sign that the company’s growth trajectory remains uneven.

Lucid’s production numbers have improved compared with early 2024, but not enough to close the gap between output and consumer demand. The company’s Arizona manufacturing plant, capable of building over 10,000 vehicles annually, continues to operate well below capacity.

imageTHE DEMAND CHALLENGE

Lucid has positioned itself as a luxury EV maker, competing with Tesla’s high-end Model S and Porsche's Taycan. Its flagship Air sedan is praised for design and performance — boasting a 500-mile range and one of the fastest 0-60 mph acceleration times in the segment. Yet, the car’s premium pricing has limited its audience.
