A pro-grade specification, but the stiff competition this month keeps it away from the prizes
-

British manufacturer PCSpecialist has gone fully professional with its high-end system this month. Not only does the Fortis Goliath R incorporate pro-grade graphics acceleration, it also uses the Pro version of AMD's Ryzen Threadripper. This is a system that means business as a content creation workhorse.
The Fortis Goliath R doesn’t go for the very top of the Threadripper Pro range, instead opting for the 32-core (64-thread) 7975WX. This runs at a base 4GHz with a 5.3GHz boost clock. This will soon be replaced by the 9975WX in AMD’s range, but we expect that to be more expensive than the outgoing 7975WX.
PCSpecialist has chosen the Threadripper Pro because it supports eight-channel memory, where the non-Pro version is quad-channel only. Taking advantage of this, the Goliath R has eight 32GB modules of 4,800MHz ECC Registered memory, for a total of 256GB. This fills all the DIMM slots on the Asus Pro WS WRX90E Sage SE motherboard, so all eight modules would need to be replaced for upgrade, but 256GB will be enough for the foreseeable future.
