OUTGOING owner Paul Barthorpe has backed “good guy” David Stockdale to get Farsley Celtic back on its feet despite the men’s team being withdrawn for 2025-26.
Relegated from National League North and then a further two levels after failing to obtain an FA licence, the crisis-torn club this week pulled out of the Northern Counties East League Premier Division amid “a wider strategic review of the club’s structure” during the “transitional period we are entering”.
It was announced a little under three weeks ago that ex-Fulham and Birmingham City goalkeeper Stockdale had agreed terms to buy out Barthorpe, the owner who left the club board in February as fans revolted over spending last season groundsharing 70 miles away at Buxton while plans to install a 3G pitch never materialised.
Barthorpe confirmed the deal to sell the holding company ~ FC 2010 Holdings Limited - to Stockdale is agreed in principle with lawyers now finalising the details.
