SPEED AND FORGIVENESS

March 2025

Callaway claims to have solved the forgiveness-speed conundrum with the new ELYTE drivers and fairway woods.

SPEED AND FORGIVENESS

Historically, forgiveness in a club (high moment of inertia) and clubhead speed work in opposing directions. The higher the MOI, the more difficult it is to gain high clubhead speed. But Callway’s new ELYTE range of drivers and fairway woods purport to have found the solution to this problem.

Callaway’s newly adopted Ai 10X face increases the number of control points that correct the trajectory by 10 times compared to previous models. In addition, with 3D printing, prototype production time has been increased by 90 times. The result of these advances in technology, Callaway has come up with four driver variations that they say are able to achieve greater length, reduced shot dispersion, and easier to hit than ever before.

With artificial intelligence-enhanced technology, Callaway’s Ai 10x Face Control Points help to fine-tune the ELYTE clubfaces to an exacting degree. The number of control points (locations on the face that correct the trajectory to optimize it) has increased ten-fold to 25,000 points. In addition, the amount of real swing data input into the AI has been significantly increased, increasing the accuracy of correction at each point.
