Picnic PostNL's Scottish wonder sat in fourth on the first rest day, reports Adam Becket in Montpellier
A new slogan has been appearing on pieces of cardboard across the roads of the Tour de France in the last week: Onley Fans. The pun on the content subscription website has not escaped the television cameras, and has followed Oscar Onley’s continued rise to the upper echelons of the Tour de France general classification.
“I looked at buying the domain name the other day, just in case, but I think someone has beaten me to it now,” his Picnic PostNL sports director Matt Winston joked atop Superbagnères on stage 14. “It’s really cool to see all the Scottish flags and British flags going crazy for Oscar. It’s really nice for him, and it’s really cool to see from the car.”
The 22-year-old has gone from hoping for stage wins to fourth place overall in the space of a fortnight at the Tour, and he very much has the potential to finish in the top 10, if not the top five, in his first edition.
