Ferguson denied Tour of Britain win on final day

Ally Wollaston pips 19-year-old Brit in nail-biting stage, reports Dan Challis in Glasgow
Cat Ferguson was visibly emotional as she made her way through the podium area after missing out on victory at the Tour of Britain Women in the very final moment of the final stage on Sunday.
The Movistar rider came within a whisker of winning her first WorldTour stage race overall, but was denied by the fast-sprinting Ally Wollaston (FDJ-Suez), who won each of the day's three intermediate sprints before placing third on the stage behind Lorena Wiebes (SD Worx-Protime) to take the biggest win of her career.
Twenty-four hours earlier, Ferguson had triumphed on the toughest stage of the race through the Scottish Borders in biblical weather with a career-best performance. The 19-year-old took a slim three-second lead into the final stage, where she knew it would be difficult to hold off multiple track world champion Wollaston. Even so, her initial feeling was one of disappointment.
