Take a look inside a modern desktop computer to see how PCs have evolved over the years

- WORDS BEN BIGGS

INSIDE YOUR PC

It's hard to imagine a family home without a computer in it these days.

After all, nearly 50 per cent of homes worldwide contain a home computer. Meanwhile, in the UK, the Office for National Statistics states that, between April 2020 and March 2021, 90 per cent of private households in the UK had a home computer, while 93 per cent had at least one mobile telephone – though for the sake of simplicity, in this feature we're only referring to laptop and desktop computers when we talk about PCs. It's safe to say that most modern homes contain a PC, though you don't have to travel too far back to find a time when a personal computer in the home was the exception, rather than the rule.
