Russia Offers Localised T-14 Armata for Next-Gen Tank Programme

Russia's Uralvagonzavod, manufacturer of the nextgeneration T-14 Armata main battle tank (MBT), has expressed keen interest in collaborating with India under the Ministry of Defence's Make-I category to jointly develop a tailored T-14 for the Indian Army's Next Generation Main Battle Tank (NGMBT) programme.

The initiative proposes up to 70 per cent government funding for indigenous prototype development and promotes strategic technology partnerships while prioritising Indian manufacturing.
The proposal includes manufacturing the tank at Indian facilities with the involvement of local specialists, potentially through the Combat Vehicles Research and Development Establishment (CVRDE) or other defence PSUs.
