In a bid to gain market share, lens manufacturers are introducing new focal ranges with a view to entice customers sitting on the fence. The Sony FE 16 - 25 mm F 2.8 G is one such launch from the Sony stable. By restricting the focal range, Sony has made the lens smaller, more compact and cheaper. How good is it?

Design & Build Quality

The Sony is well made and well finished. The lens weighs a mere 409 g and comes with dust and moisture protection. Use of a polycarbonate barrel instead of a metal one is the reason for the light weight. The lens accepts 67 mm filters. The lens is supplied with a petal shaped bayonet type hood and a case. The lens has dimensions of 74.8 X 91.4 mm. 1.4x and 2x teleconverters are accepted.
