Congress clears fuel excise tax relief bill for Marcos

CONGRESS on Wednesday cleared a bill authorizing President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to suspend or reduce excise taxes on petroleum products if Dubai crude prices stay above $80 per barrel for a month.
The Lower House adopted the Senate version and dispensed with a bicameral conference.
Senate President Vicente Sotto III told the chamber the House adopted Senate Bill No. 1982 as an amendment to House Bill No. 9418 at 3:39 pm on Wednesday, allowing the measure to move directly to enrollment and transmission to Malacañan.
