Redevelopment of Elland Road gets major boost

Leeds United's plans for the redevelopment of Elland Road Stadium have been recommended for approval.

The Whites submitted a planning application in July for a full refurbishment of their ground - which will increase capacity from just below 38,000 to 53,000, making it the seventh largest in the country - at a reported cost of between £100m and £150m.
The club said in a statement: “The (Leeds City Council) Planning Officers Report issued on Monday, December 22, 2025 has recommended the project for approval.
