Leeds woman living with terminal cancer has hit the halfway mark of her fundraising goal to raise £1m to support cancer care in the city.

Jacqui Drake, 62, a former choreographer from Apperley Bridge, has now raised £500,000 through her Jacqui's Million appeal in aid of Leeds Hospitals Charity, thanks to her tireless fundraising efforts.

Jacqui hasn't had an easy journey, she was first diagnosed with melanoma in 1993 and after successful surgery remained cancer free until 2009 when she was given the devastating news her cancer was back and stage four.

Despite living with terminal cancer, undergoing three major operations and having her right lung removed, Jacqui is determined to help make a difference to thousands of cancer patients across our region and has remained positive in the face of adversity.

Almost 16 years later, Jacqui has defied the odds and is still having ongoing treatment every four weeks at Leeds Cancer Centre, a place which has become a second home and she calls "my favourite place - the Bexley Wing".
