Over 7,000 reckless drivers caught thanks to locals' dash-cam footage

A people-powered road-safety crackdown has snared more than 7,200 dangerous drivers on West Yorkshire roads over the last year, new figures reveal.

More than 7,000 drivers have been caught thanks to vigilant motorists' dash-cam footage.

Vigilant local motorists armed with dash cams have helped police issue action against nearly 7,300 reckless drivers via the pioneering 'Op Snap' submission scheme.

With submissions rising to 11,096 clips over the past year - a 12 per cent increase from the previous year - West Yorkshire Police and the Vision Zero partnership are encouraging families to "give the gift of safer roads this Christmas" by considering a dash cam under the tree for their loved ones.
