A cancer researcher who found herself diagnosed with the disease is set to run the world's highest marathon.
Dr Shaunna Burke, 49, ran to all of her chemotherapy appointments after she was diagnosed with stage two breast cancer in March 2024.
Months after her initial diagnosis, a scan revealed her cancer was actually stage four and incurable - something she said made her foundations 'tremble' as she is 'not ready to die'.
A University of Leeds researcher with 13 years of experience in the field of exercise and cancer, Dr Burke found herself on the becoming a patient under many of her colleagues - something she admitted felt 'surreal'.
