Fighting fuel poverty for city's most vulnerable as home works to start

People in Holbeck can look forward to warmer, greener homes thanks to upgrades that get under way this month.
The first scheme in the Heart of Holbeck regeneration programme will make the homes easier and more affordable to heat, helping to reduce fuel poverty and cold-related illness for some of the most vulnerable people in Leeds.
The improvements are part of a £15.9m Local Regeneration Fund grant to improve the area of Holbeck.
Other elements of the scheme will see investment in a local community centre and major improvements to the infrastructure, environment and green spaces of Holbeck.
At least 180 homes-a mix of council properties, owner-occupied and privately rented homes - will be enhanced.
Work includes new insulation for external walls and the installation of new roofs, windows and doors.
