March 27, 2026

A FIRE that broke out on Exmoor is believed to have been started deliberately.

The blaze was reported at 11.30pm on East Anstey Common near South Molton on Monday night.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue said the blaze spread rapidly due to high winds, creating multiple fire fronts across both sides of the road.

The blaze measured around 1,600 metres in total, with the south side of the road being the larger of the two.
