TWO defeats from their opening two National League games - and with no goals scored - is certainly not the start to the season Truro City would have wanted, but while those statistics aren’t great reading, they don’t paint the full picture for the Tinners.

Hard work will get Truro through their tough start

‘They more than matched Wealdstone on the opening weekend of the season and on Saturday, they again proved to be a match for York City, the preseason title favourites for the National League.

However, as Saturday's loss to the Minstermen showed, you don’t always get what you deserve in football and the Tinners would no doubt welcome a lesser performance but three welcome points to get their league campaign up and running when they head to Tamworth tonight.

Reflecting on their weekend loss., boss John Askey said: “The conditions here weren't conducive to play free flowing football and it was difficult for both teams.

“I went in at halftime and said to the lads that just because we had a gale-force wind behind us, it didn’t mean it would be easier.

“Looking for positives, though, for the majority of the game we have more than matched York, but the first goal has Killed us.
