THE University of Exeter has appointed one of its most high-profile alumni, former Chancellor of the Exchequer the Rt Hon Sir Sajid Javid, as chair of its new philanthropic campaign set to officially launch in 2026.
Sir Sajid, who graduated in 1991 with a degree in Economics and Politics and was awarded an honorary Doctor of Laws (Hon LLD) in 2025, will front the university's ambitious goal to raise £150 million in donations and secure 150,000 volunteering hours by the end of the decade.
The fundraising effort will support the university's ‘2030 Strategy,’ which aims to build a “greener, healthier and fairer future”. Full details of the campaign are expected to be revealed next year.
