School reopens after knife threat messages

A PRIMARY school which was shut down by police because a threat was made about “individuals attending the premises armed with knives” is to reopen today.

A decision was taken in the early hours of Monday to close Dafen CP School in Llanelli after messages were received online which resulted in police taking “safeguarding action”.

Police confirmed on Monday that a “critical incident” had been declared and that at least 13 police units were deployed to the school and surrounding areas - including a firearms unit, a dog unit, neighbourhood policing and prevention teams, and response officers.
