No time to waste to improve safety

TODAY we publish frightening statistics about the number of crashes on a relatively short stretch of dual carriageway in south Wales.

In the 12 months between August 2024 and August 2025 there were 186 crashes on the 15-mile section of the A48 between Carmarthen and Pont Abraham.
In a previous 12-month period between October 2023 and October 2024, the stretch of road saw 169 crashes.
This means the latest figures prove that safety on the dual carriageway is actually getting worse, despite promises from the Welsh Government that action will be taken to reduce the number of collisions, a number described by the MP for Caerfyrddin, Ann Davies, as “heartbreaking and alarming”
