AT A time when more people are reportedly affected by mental health problems it is dispiriting when any service to help is cut.

Public purse strings are tightened, with no sign of a boost to coffers soon. At times like these, those responsible for spending public cash must make tough decisions.
It can only be hoped that any money that can be saved on unnecessary projects and costs is saved before frontline services. Any reductions in vital services must only come about as a last resort.
