Welsh rivals poised to do battle over star defender

- MATHEW DAVIES Football audience editor mathew.davies@walesonline.co.uk

SWANSEA City are facing a battle with one of their Welsh rivals over defender Harry Darling.

The centre-back is out of contract this summer, with talks over fresh terms having been restarted in recent weeks.

Darling was one of Swansea's standout players last season. Now Championship newcomers Wrexham could be ready to swoop in and make him one of their first signings of the summer.

Birmingham's interest in the defender has been well documented but Wrexham’s possible pursuit - first reported in The Sun - opens up the race for his signature.
