KEN Skates MS, the Welsh Government’s secretary for North Wales and Transport, welcomed the jobs creation, saying: “In the ’80s we lost 10,000 jobs in one day at Shotton Steel. These programmes that are being announced today will create more than that sum.”

Plaid Cymru representatives welcomed the announcement and urged firm commitments to ensure Anglesey’s communities enjoy long-term benefits of investment

Plaid Cymru leader and MS for Ynys Môn, Rhun ap Iorwerth, described the announcement as “significant for people on Ynys Môn and across Wales”.

He noted that the announcement “reflects years of hard work by both the Plaid Cymru-led Anglesey County Council and Llinos Medi - both as the current MP and former council leader”

Mr ap Iorwerth called for clear assurance that the project would be completed and emphasised the need to ensure that the voices of local people are represented throughout the process.

Plaid Cymru’s Ynys Môn MP Llinos Medi said the announcement could “finally unlock Wylfa’s potential” after years of uncertainty and said it was “the result of years of partnership across Ynys Môn”.

Ms Medi underlined the importance of strong local commitments, long-term jobs, and investment that directly benefits the island's communities.
