Bridge partially reopens as safety work continues
Western Mail
|October 10, 2025
THE Menai Suspension Bridge will partially reopen to traffic today.
The bridge was closed to all traffic on Saturday after engineers highlighted the need to replace bolts on critical beams located beneath the structure.
This saw a three-tonne weight limit (allowing just cars and motorbikes) initially imposed last Friday but then a full closure the next day due to concerns over how this would be enforced.
It was the latest setback for the historic bridge, which first shut in October 2022 due to safety concerns.
It will partially reopen to cars, motorcyclists, cyclists and pedestrians.
