A 12-YEAR-OLD boy has been awarded a Chief Constable's Commendation for his bravery in saving his mum's life when she suffered a medical episode while driving along a busy road.

Nicola Crump and Zac Howells from Ebbw Vale had been on their way to Birmingham’s Christmas market on December 20, when Nicola suddenly felt hot and passed out behind the wheel.

In the seven to eight minutes Nicola was passed out, Zac took the wheel and manoeuvred the car into the central reservation to slow it down on the bumpy grass before turning it off. He then rang the emergency services, carefully explaining where they were.
