Long-serving shop is saved from closure
Western Gazette
|July 10, 2025
ONE of Somerset's oldest and most cherished businesses has been saved from closure.
-
Based on West Street in Somerton, Overt Locke has been part of the town’s fabric since 1925, offering tools, hardware, homeware, and expert advice with a personal touch
Its future was recently thrown into doubt, raising concern among loyal customers who feared the loss of a local institution. But local business owners Rob and Louise Gillard have ensured the iconic shop can continue serving the community it has supported for over a century.
