Clearance work noise 'terrifying rescue animals'

A LOCAL animal sanctuary says its animals have been "absolutely terrified" by works on a major development site in Crewkerne.
Faye Arden, 38, says that 180 metres of Victorian hedgerow is being cut down to make way for the 110-house Wool Gardens development.
Faye, who is co-founder of Eastham Animal Sanctuary, is currently rehabilitating 10 to 15 rescue animals across the road from the development, including cats, chickens, rabbits and guinea pigs.
She said that works began on Tuesday, May 6, with an industrial wood chipper creating lots of noise: "It's been scaring our animals and making them absolutely terrified."
Faye and her partner had raised their concerns with housing developer Taylor Wimpey before the work started.
She added the rescue animals have been left startled and disturbed by the noise.
