GEORGE Skivington admitted he was "gutted" with the way his Gloucester Rugby side fell apart in the closing stages of their Gallagher Prem season-opener at Sale Sharks on Thursday night.

- ALAN BROWN

The Cherry & Whites led 10-5 at halftime and were very much in the game at 12-10 down with a little over ten minutes to play, but ultimately lost 27-10 as the home side finished with a flourish.

England wing Tom Roebuck's try put Sale ahead in the 16th minute but Skivington's visitors hit back through the boot of Ross Byrne and Jack Clement's touchdown on the stroke of halftime.

Debutant hooker Nathan Jibulu's try levelled matters at 10-10 in the second period after Clement had been sinbinned and George Ford's conversion edged Sale back in front at 12-10.
