If you want to live in a civilised society, with all the benefits that brings, you have to put up with politicians. That's just the way of the world.

DON'T know what the day is doing as you check out these few choice words, dear reader, but as I type them, it's the middle of the morning, the skies are cloudy and outside the window it's looking like rain is on the way.

In other words, when it comes to English weather, normal service has been resumed. The cards have been shuffled, the dice has been thrown and the virtuous circle has been closed.

For a few short weeks back there, we were bathing in long, hot, glorious summer days filled with wall-to-wall sunshine and temperatures higher than a badger on a penny farthing bicycle. But that was then. This is now. As anyone with more brain cells than fingertips could have easily predicted, now we are back to doing things the good old fashioned British way. Keeping a stiff upper lip no matter how much filthy moisture the elements throw our way. Sigh.
