An independent broadband provider installing ultrafast full-fibre broadband across Wiltshire, Somerset and Devon is marking 15 years of connecting rural communities.

Based near Blandford in Dorset, Wessex Internet is building an ultrafast full fibre network to connect and serve the most remote communities in the region.

Since being established in 2010, the company has gone from strength to strength as a rural, independent broadband provider.

The anniversary comes soon after the death of founder James Gibson Fleming MBE, who passed away on October 11, aged 67.

The idea came from his frustration with rural connectivity in North Dorset. Starting with a few wireless links between farms, the firm delivers full-fibre broadband across four counties, employs more than 300 people and has won numerous national awards for its rural innovation.
