A GLOUCESTERSHIRE student in full-time education has revealed how she manages to put away £1,200 each month.

- ROBERT ROWLANDS

India Barrett, 18, pictured right, has maintained a longstanding interest in saving and educated herself on investing through YouTube, having been inspired by her business studies classes.

The sixth form pupil, from Berkeley, had accumulated funds set aside for investments before she was even legally permitted to invest and now invests £600 monthly, while placing an additional £600 each month into savings. Alongside preparing for her A Levels, India works 40 hours weekly, as well as generating income from TikTok.

She has managed to accumulate £12,000 in savings and investments using a rule she applies each month with the money left over after essentials have been paid for.

She said: "I've always been very money driven, and when I started studying business in college, it just made me really want to save lots of money. I’m in college three days a week, and work in a Thai restaurant four days a week - I don’t really ever have a day off. As soon as my paycheck comes in, I budget everything I need for the month, and put the rest in savings.
