Elizalde set for a switch to Newcastle

NEWCASTLE Red Bulls appear to have won the race to sign Argentina international Benjamin Elizalde from Bristol Bears ahead of next season, writes John Evely.
Elizalde, 21, arrived in Bristol in the summer of 2024 and has since earned his first caps for the Pumas in the last 12 months.
Despite making 27 appearances for the Bears over the last two seasons, scoring five tries, the young utility back has struggled to nail down a spot in Pat Lam's strongest XV, not featuring in the Gallagher Prem since the defeat away to Bath back in October, with summer signing Louis Rees-Zammit having shuffled the South American down the pecking order.
