TTC appoints interim boss

A former Metrolinx executive has been appointed as the new temporary boss of the TTC, and says he could seek to hold on to the job if his initial tenure goes well.

At a city hall news conference Friday afternoon, TTC chair Jamaal Myers confirmed the agency’s board had selected Greg Percy to fill the role of interim CEO.

“Greg is well known and well respected in the transit industry across Canada, and comes to us with a great reputation,” said Coun. Myers (Ward 23, Scarborough North). “He brings to the TTC his executive leadership experience in operations and capital expansion and a deep understanding of transit in Toronto, both of which are key attributes we were looking for.”

Percy has more than 15 years’ experience in senior positions at Metrolinx and its predecessor GO Transit, including serving as Metrolinx chief operating officer from 2016 to 2019. His appointment was approved at a closed-door meeting of the board on Friday afternoon, and was first reported by the Star.
