Fourth on Hamilton's depth chart, quarterback starts with chance to learn
Taulia Tagovailoa is more than just Tua's brother, holding the Big 10 record for passing yards (11,256) and completion percentage (67.1) during his time at the University of Maryland.
When the Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa — brother of Miami Dolphins QB, Tua — earlier this week, they brought in a player with the most-famous football name since they added Johnny Manziel (cough, cough) six years ago.
It’s definitely an attention-grabbing addition. So, are you going to be seeing him in a game any time soon?
Short answer: Barring a series of injuries that eviscerate the QB group, almost certainly not.
Bo Levi Mitchell is the unquestioned starter on this team. He’s a veteran who understands the Canadian game, he’s well-compensated and he’s proven he can win championships. As a result, he’s not only going to get the ball in games but also for most of the reps at practice. That last part is important.
Taylor Powell is next up and he’ll get the bulk of whatever opportunities are left in practice. Harrison Frost is third. It’s already going to be difficult to get him much of anything beyond scraps.
