New bench unveiled at bowls club honours much-loved former player

TIVERTON West End Bowling Club has paid tribute to a much-loved former member with the unveiling of a memorial bench, as it launched the new season with a fresh kit and a growing membership.
The bench, now a fixture at the club’s green in Westexe Rec, commemorates Tony Gribble, a dedicated player who was a member for more than 20 years.
Tony, who died aged 82, had worked at John Heathcoat's factory for 46 years and left instructions in his will for a bench to be placed at the club he cherished.
Club president Ken Powney said the gesture came from Tony’s family and reflected the impact he had made.
